Frequently asked questions

Renting our products

It's the freedom to rent a selection of Decathlon products for as long as you like. This new approach to sport lets you keep moving as much as you want and switch up your activities without having to invest in buying equipment. Your budget can breathe a little…

Easy and very quick! To get started, simply choose a product online or in store, select the option that suits you and sign up. In just a few minutes, the product is yours! To find out more, head over to our How rental works page.

Maximum, no, but minimum, sometimes yes! Depending on how long you're interested in using it, there are two different rental options: short term (less than a month) or long term (more than 3 months). For a product rental of less than a month, you commit to the number of days you're interested in. For a rental of more than a month (long term), you switch to the subscription option, with a minimum commitment period ranging from 3 to 12 months.

There are loads! Letting us take care of maintaining the equipment to keep it in top condition, no longer storing products at home that you've bought but don't use, keeping your sport and mobility budget under control… To discover them all, head over to our page on the 6 good reasons to rent your sports or mobility equipment.

"All", not yet, as our rental offer is new, but there are already plenty. We chose to start with our most in-demand products, the ones most useful in your everyday life. So for now, you'll mainly find adult bikes (pedal or electric), cargo bikes, children's bikes, balance bikes, fitness equipment and ski gear [to be adapted]. To see the products available near you, click here.

Easy: for online rentals, simply browse the products available to rent. You'll be able to check their availability in the Decathlon stores near you in a single click. If you'd rather rent directly in store, check the availability of the products in participating stores!

It depends! Rented products may be new or refurbished. For refurbished products, the equipment is inspected by our in-store experts to guarantee optimal quality and safety. In all cases, we promise to give you a product that is spotless, checked, safe and high-performing. Reusing our products is something we really care about, putting sustainability and circularity at the heart of sporting activities. By choosing rental, you're championing a more responsible way of consuming alongside us!

Yes, you can absolutely rent several products at once - for example, bikes for the whole family - but your basket can only contain one product at a time. So to rent several products, you'll need to place separate orders, and therefore have several rental contracts.

Almost immediately! If you reserve a product online, once your order is confirmed you can collect it in store within the hour thanks to the "click & collect" service. And if you reserve your product directly in store, there's a good chance you'll be able to take it away straight away.

Once your product is reserved, you have 7 days to collect it in store. We promise to keep it for you during this period. After this time, the order and the rental will be cancelled…

Yes, renting a product is more eco-friendly if it's used by several people over a long period: it helps reduce the production of new equipment and therefore the overall impact. This is particularly relevant for occasional use. If a product is used very regularly, buying may be more suitable, provided you keep the product for a really long time and look after it well. Consuming better actually means choosing between renting and buying based on your real needs, while prioritising durability and repair.

At Decathlon, we've been working for several years on the design of our products to extend their lifespan. The aim of this approach is to build durability considerations (resistance, reliability, performance over time and timeless designs) and repairability into our business. Making our products available to rent is part of this approach! For more information about our durability commitments, click here.

The subscription

It's a product rental for a period of more than 1 month. There's no time limit and it includes the maintenance of your product throughout your subscription. The movement, the fun and the freedom are yours; the spanner turns and the grease on our fingers are ours, whenever you need them!

When you rent a product by subscription, a minimum commitment period of 1 month is required, sometimes more depending on the option chosen. At the end of this period, you can cancel your rental contract at any time by returning your product to a Decathlon store (the one of your choice!). Payments are made monthly.

Opting for a longer subscription period has several benefits, the main one being substantial savings. The longer your commitment, the better value your monthly subscription. On top of that, you benefit from the range of services that come with your rental throughout your commitment period, starting with the maintenance included.

With this option, you benefit from services included in your subscription, such as equipment maintenance and damage and theft insurance (included for classic adult bikes, electric bikes and cargo bikes, optional for other products) [to be adapted]. That way, you can make the most of your product without having to worry about a thing..

Damage insurance is included for adult pedal bikes, electric bikes and cargo bikes, and optional for other products. Its cost varies depending on the product. In the event of breakage, significant damage or theft of your product, this insurance guarantees that the resulting costs are covered (with a remaining excess of 15% of the product's purchase value in the event of theft) [to be adapted]. To activate this insurance, you simply need to report the incident and provide a police report.

In our opinion, yes, because the annual maintenance costs of a bike can be considerable - and they're often underestimated. for everyday use, the maintenance budget for a classic adult bike is estimated at around 100 to 200 CHF per year, and 200 to 400 CHF per year for an electric bike. So the maintenance included is a real "plus" for keeping your budget under control.…

A commitment period is the minimum length of time you commit to when you first rent. It can be 3, 12, or 24 month. In other words, it's the period during which you commit to paying monthly instalments to Decathlon for the rental of your product.

You can find all the details about your subscription, including the length of your commitment and its end date, by going to the "My account" section, then "My rentals", then "Manage my rentals".

It's possible for children's bikes! You can take out a rental online on the same terms as in store. You will, however, need to come and collect the product in store, where it will be available one hour after your order is confirmed. Once you've collected the equipment, your rental begins and the first monthly payment is taken.

No, there's currently no home delivery service; you always collect your product in store. That way, we can check together that it suits you perfectly.

A user manual may be available depending on the type of product, but not always. To get one, ask directly in store.

Quick, ask us for help! You can contact us here, write to us by email at [email protected]/fr/it/esWho [to be adapted] or come and tell us what you need in the Decathlon store where you rented your product.

Sadly, no, your subscription contract doesn't include a purchase option. But you can ask in store about the offers available… Renting is also a great way to test a product in real conditions before possibly buying it!

No, it is not available to professionals. Our offer is designed exclusively for individual customers.

Maintenance included

It means you benefit once a year maintenance of your product, at no extra cost, from the very first day of rental and throughout your subscription. The workshops in Decathlon stores are at your service to keep the rented product in perfect condition. Do remember to book an appointment to plan your visit, though.

Yes, it's advisable to maintain the product yourself too during the rental period, because dirty or damaged products cannot be returned, or else extra charges will apply. The spirit of rental is about looking after the product together: you on a daily basis by keeping it in good working order, and us in the workshop when you bring it to us for maintenance. If you use your product every day, a visit every six months is recommended.

No, we'd rather spare you that tedious process. Just know that we'll always give you a spotless product, whether it's new or refurbished.

It happens, sadly, but be aware that it must be repaired before being returned. If you've taken out damage insurance, it may cover the repair costs depending on the terms of your contract. Otherwise, we'll have to charge you for the necessary repairs according to our workshops' price list (which offer very competitive prices, rest assured).

Contact a Decathlon store quickly, and we'll see whether replacing it falls under your damage insurance. In all cases, your product must be complete when it's returned.

Worn tyres, loose brakes, small scratches… Anything related to ordinary wear and tear of the product is covered by the damage insurance or included in the maintenance. Damage is something more visible that clearly degrades the product. Rust caused by poor storage, scratches so big they're more like gouges, a broken accessory, stains that won't come out… In that case, additional charges should be expected, which in some cases will be covered by your damage insurance if you took one out with your subscription.

Between you and us, we'd advise against it, because only repairs carried out by Decathlon are guaranteed.

It's simple: you can drop it off at any Decathlon store to request a repair. Our workshops are at your service all year round, by appointment, to get your product back in working order as quickly as possible.

No, we do not offer a replacement product. However, if the repair takes longer than 7 days, we refund half of the current month's fee, and if the product is unavailable for more than two weeks, we provide a full refund for the current month.

We simply ask you to return the product complete (no missing accessories), in good condition and clean, in other words ready to be reused.

Yes, let's be precise. A product with slightly worn tyres, loose brakes, small scratches… is considered to be in good condition. In other words, anything related to ordinary wear and tear of the product, within reason. On the other hand, rust caused by poor storage, a broken accessory, tyres completely worn out from repeated skidding… are signs of premature wear and a lack of care for the product, and obviously don't fall within the definition of "good condition".

For us, it means: no visible dirt (earth, sand, dust…), no stains (food, drink, grease…), a dry product with no unusual smell… We don't require a professional clean, rest assured: a simple, careful clean is enough.

Cleaning charges may sadly apply…

The contract and payments

No, there's no deposit or security payment to make; we trust you!

Yes, a Decathlon customer account is required. If you don't have an account yet, creating one will only take a few minutes, and with it you'll have access to loads of benefits…

Very few documents, rest assured! Online or in store, all you need is a payment card (please note that prepaid cards are not accepted), proof of address (your ID document may do the job) and a smartphone connected to the internet: that lets you receive the payment link.

Your rental officially begins the day you collect your equipment, not before. For example, if you take out a subscription online on 23 November and collect the product on 25 November, your subscription will start from the 25th.

The first payment can be made either in store via a secure SMS link, or online when you sign up, again using a secure payment method.

For rental, only card payments are possible for now.

Of course! Decathlon guarantees the security of financial transactions thanks to advanced protection systems, and dedicated Decathlon teams work actively to prevent fraud and combat cyberattacks.

We'll send you an email as soon as your product is ready to be collected in store. You then have 7 days to come and pick it up, simply by showing a valid form of ID. Your rental officially begins at that point, and your first monthly payment is taken.

Yes, of course! It's absolutely possible to take out a subscription in store rather than online. Payment on site is made via a secure payment link that we send you by SMS.

Just keep an eye on it via your customer account, quite simply.

Sadly no, we really need to hand it over to you in person.

No, rest assured, there are no additional charges, no registration fees and no hidden fees to subscribe to our rental service. No nasty surprises between us!

Yes, but only if you placed your rental order online. If the rental was made in-store, there is no cooling-off period.

It's simple, they are archived in your customer account. Just go to "Rental" and then "My invoices".

Simply contact our customer service team. We are available Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00, and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:00 on +41 32 756 70 70.

In just a few clicks in your customer account! Go to "Rental" then "My payment details".

You can update your payment method under "Rental" then "My payment details", then go to "My invoices" and click "Settle invoice".

Cancellation, changes and end of contract

If you're still within the commitment period, it's not possible to extend or shorten the length of your contract. But once the commitment period is over, if you'd like to benefit from the reduced rates of a longer subscription, you can cancel your current contract and take out a new one.

Sadly no, it's currently not possible to change product during a subscription. But once your commitment period is over, you can cancel your rental contract at any time and take out a new contract for a different product.

No, unfortunately it's not yet possible to pause a rental contract, but once your contract's commitment period is over, you can cancel your rental very easily!

Not necessarily! Once your initial commitment period is over, your subscription automatically switches to a flexible monthly option, at the same rate. You'll continue to enjoy your rental and the associated services at the same monthly rate you secured, but with the freedom to cancel at any time.

Once your commitment period has passed, yes, no problem! Your contract will then end as soon as you've returned the product to the store.

If you have to cancel your subscription before the end of the agreed commitment period, early cancellation charges will apply. The remaining balance will be debited from your account in a single automatic payment. Contact our customer service team to find out what to do. And don't forget that once your commitment period is over, you can cancel your subscription at any time, free of charge.

To return a product, you can go to any Decathlon store.

Faulty or stolen product

Let us know, quickly! We wouldn't want a hitch to spoil your experience. If this happens, contact a Decathlon store to get the product replaced as quickly as possible. But there's no reason to run into this kind of problem with our rental products: our refurbishment process includes quality checks and a clean carried out by our workshop experts before the product is handed over to you.

If you run into an issue with your product, the best thing is to go to the store where you rented it. And if you'd like help with your subscription or your equipment, contact our customer service team, available Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 8 pm, and via decathlon.ch/en/help/app/ask. Or, again, head to a Decathlon store. Coming to talk to us is always a good move…

Ouch, really bad luck; here's how to act in this situation: if you've taken out theft insurance, report the incident quickly to the insurance department via the email [email protected] or by phone on +41 32 756 70 70. If you haven't taken out theft insurance, the following costs are payable by you:
